Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I had fabulous days with my whole family. My sisters was here. Although it had snowed some days before Christmas we hadn't white Christmas. The snow was thawed again. Unfortunately nothing with my dream of  white Christmas.

My both sisters gave me the complete series of 'Battlestar Galactica' (Ultimate Edition) signed by Jamie Bamber. I was totally surprised about it. I think my very good friend in London has bought these and had them signed by Jamie already on June 1th during the HMV signing session. Unbelievably! He is just here at his family. Leon, thank you! ♥

But these was still not all surprises. The weekend before Christmas surprised me some members of my community with a gift coupon of Amazon.de. I was totally speechless. :-)))

But that's still not all:

I mentioned here, I was quite sad because I couldn't be at the Mission Starfury last month. I got no vacation. Do you remember, I made two wallpapers to L&O and I gave these with greetings for Jamie a friend who was going to the con. Of course Jamie got a copy of both as a little gift from me. He should pick out his favourite and sign one of it for me. And he did it. Yay!

His choice fell on this one.

      *squeeeee*

Jamie, thank you so much!  ♥  Both walls I'll post in the next days.

but still not enough ...

I got a specially Christmas greeting of Jamie. I still can't believe it,
he wore a Santa hat for me. *squeeee*

This is so cute, isn't it? It was the idea from my friend 'VBR'.
Hey guys, thank you so much!!!  ♥ hugs and kisses ♥

Now I know why I had to wait so long. It was also a part of the Christmas surprises of my lovely friends.

And today ... I still got a video with many of my wallpapers/calendars in it. It's called 'The BSG Wallpaper Interview'. Gods, no one was doing this for me until now. I was speechless again and I started to cry. Thank God nobody could see me. ;-)  In the meantime I have found my language again and I'm sooo happy! :-)))) Guido, this is so awesome! Thank you so much!

I can it only say again and again ...
Folks, thank you very much for all your surprises! I love you all!

Wishing all of you a happy and successful New Year 2010!!!   *wave*

I haven’t looked forward to a new publication like this since Sarah Monette’s third Labyrinth novel, which turned out to be disappointing. Carol Berg, however, I know will not disappoint. Her novels go from strength to strength, the last duology - Flesh and Spirit and Breath and Bone - were just so beautifully crafted and realised in plot, setting and character that I still find myself thinking about scenes from them, a full year after reading them. The Spirit Lens sounds like an amazing novel. I’ve been following Carol’s progress with the trilogy on her blog. She is a very insightful and imaginative writer. If you’ve never read any of her books this is a perfect way to start – and go read BB and FS while you wait for Spirit. Check out her blog, via her website – http://www.sff.net/people/carolberg/

The cover is utterly gorgeous, too.

A starred review from Publishers Weekly is high praise. This is what they said:

The Spirit Lens Carol Berg. Roc, $16 paper (464p) ISBN 978-0-451-46311-1

In this superbly realized leadoff to Berg’s quasi-Renaissance fantasy trilogy, natural science, backed by Sabria’s King Philippe, is gaining popularity, leading some magicians to attempt his assassination. Failed mage and self-doubting librarian Portier de Savin-Duplais is chosen by Philippe, his distant cousin, to secretly probe a treacherous plot that involves his beloved queen. With fellow “agents confides” Ilario, an inane chevalier, and Dante, a ferocious renegade sorcerer, Portier embarks on an intricate quest to save king and kingdom. As in her widely praised Breath and Bone, Berg shapes the well-worn elements of epic fantasy into a lush, absorbing narrative. Even her minor characters, caught up in fiendish plots and deathly secrets, ring regally true, and Portier oscillates between rueful, reluctant, ethics-bending service and painful but necessary revelations while his old world collapses and a new one struggles to be born. (Jan.)

It's released on January 5th. If you like fantasy and brilliant writing, you won't be wasting your money on this one.

The tree in my room. Notice the Dalek (not decorated, but at least he's there), next to a glass penguin (in front of Dalek) and if you squint, the cute glass pig. At right, you can barely make out the new Godzilla Xmas tree ornament.

To all my dear friends:

Unfortunately I lack the time and talent to make a beautiful personalized Dean and Sam greeting to celebrate the occasion.  Still I want to wish you all a happy holiday.  Hope you enjoy every moment you spend with your loved ones. *huggles*

And [info]dreams_of_honey dear, thank you so much for the lovely Bear Claus! ♥

But guess what?! Although I don't have the talent to make anything creative this year, I wished the ever awesome [info]adrenalineshots would write a hurt!Dean fic for the holiday. To prove her awesomeness, she ended up writing not one (where Dean's not having any luck after leaving 'TV Land') but two (where there's Nasty Hell flashbacks and huguity hugs)! What an expected treat and I'm hugging both fics close to my heart!

Ahem... A friend emailed me this and I can't help but share. I'm sure Mac users will be rolling on the floor laughing ;)

If Microsoft ran Christmas ...

Each time you bought a Microsoft ornament, you would have to buy a tree as well. You wouldn't have to take the tree, but you still have to pay for it anyway. Ornament/7 would weigh 1500 pounds (requiring a reinforced steel tree), draw enough electricity to power a small city, take up 95% of the space in your living room, and would claim to be the first ornament that uses the colors red and green together. It would interrogate your other decorations to find out who made them. Most everyone would hate Microsoft ornaments, but nonetheless would buy them, since most of the other ornament types wouldn't work with their hooks!

Well, it's less than an hour to Christmas day now. Pressies are done, veggies are prepped, I'm in my red silk(poly) jammies watching the Carols at the Bowl. Tomorrow will be lunch at my sister's, which usually lasts till whenever we go home at night. Sitting on the back verandah enjoying the view of the hills. After lunch (mum's making me a pumpkin roulade!) we'll collapse in the loungeroom and do presents, then go for a walk with the dogs down in the wetlands, followed by pudding and buckets of brandy cream. We'll watch My Family's Chrissie special or Vicar of Dibley, drink champers and get silly. Might slip on Baryshnikov's Nutcracker when Dad falls asleep. Should be a good day. Cool too - it was 39C yesterday but the tail end of the cyclone that hit WA has reached us and it's cool and raining, for once making sense to have a hot dinner for Christmas. (And why do we have ovens blazing when it's baking hot outside? Tradition...)

Funkiest present bought: two giant stuffed fleas for my sister's daschunds.

Present bought for self: a ticket to meet RDA next year. Woot!

So, how is everyone else spending their day - or not as the case may be? The northern hemisphere seems to be snowed under - hope everyone stays safe and warm.

Merry Christmas all.
Suz
